For World Oceans Week, we've partnered up with sponsor and legacy outdoors equipment company Fjällräven for a special edition Kånken backpack, made entirely from polyester recycled from plastic bottles. The Re-Kånken is ready to carry life’s essentials – and far into the future, to be recycled again.
Available only in "UN Blue", as a nod to the Oceans and our iconic Explorers Club Flag, this Re-Kånken backpack includes custom EC embroidery.
This backpack is made entirely from polyester recycled from eleven plastic bottles and dyed with SpinDye technology that radically reduces the amount of water, energy and chemicals used. It's an everyday companion with the same genius design as the original, but now reinvented from a recycling/recyclable perspective that saves natural resources.
The main compartment has a large zippered opening that makes it easy to pack and unpack. It comes with a seat pad that is stored in the inside back packet where it stops the contents of the backpack pressing against the back – and is always at hand when a pause is needed.
There are also two flat side pockets and a zippered pocket on the front, perfect for small items you want to keep close at hand. The carrying system is simple but functional with handles at the top and flexible, adjustable shoulder straps.
By purchasing your Re-Kånken through The Explorers Club and World Oceans Week, you are supporting the scientific exploration of the oceans, land, air, and space, as well as research and education in the physical, natural and biological sciences.
