Peruvian weavers are proud custodians of an extraordinary textile lineage spanning thousands of years across Pre-Columbian, Colonial, and contemporary eras. Textiles thus serve as an enduring cultural bridge between their ancestors and future generations.

The Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (CTTC) was established to systematically research, revive, and teach traditional weaving. CTTC encourages children to learn weaving techniques early on and draw creative inspiration directly from their hearts and ancestral heritage. Engaging youth in weaving also ensures revival of ancient textile practices, Quechua language, and cultural pride.

Ultimately, textile sales provide vital household income, allowing families to remain in their rural communities. Today, CTTC partners with 10 high-altitude Quechua communities around Cusco, transforming highland livelihoods.

The presentation will be preceded and followed by a Textile Market.
