On Saturday morning Jan. 13th, there will be presentations by the Awardees at the Bowers Museum, with lunch on your own, and during the afternoon, an opportunity to view the current Bowers Museum exhibit The Power of Photography, which features a selection of iconic images which were compiled by the pioneering collector Peter Fetterman to celebrate the photograph’s unique capacity for sensibility.
Our Saturday, Jan. 13th WECAD Dinner will begin with an reception in the museum's courtyard at 6:00 pm following by an elegant dinner in the museum's John Lee Court. The WECAD award presentation will take place following dinner in the museum's Norma Kershaw auditorium.
For those who wish to have an extra experience and opportunity to spend time with fellow Explorers, David Dolan and Alan Feldstein are organizing a field trip for Sunday, January 14th to the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park.
Next best thing to going to the Maasai Mara or Serengeti Game Parks, but without the cost of a Trans-Atlantic flight. The cost of this experience will be just over $100 including lunch and admission. Travel costs will be minimal as we will be chartering a bus from the hotel.
And for those who want to have more adventure in California, your fellow Board member Dr. Tim Radke has offered to accompany any of your to Disney's California Adventure Park on Monday, Jan. 15, which is located just a miles from the Fera/Doubletree Hotel and next to Disneyland.
If you would like to partake in either extended experience, contact Dinner Chair David Dolan:
The recommended hotel is the newly renovated Hotel Fera Anaheim, a DoubleTree by Hilton -- 100 The City Drive, Orange, CA 92868
Located 2.5 miles from the Bowers Museum, we have reserved a block of rooms at the special rate of $169 plus tax. This is the hotel we've used for previous WECADs and many report that the best part of WECAD are the late night conversations at the hotel's bar.

The most convenient airport nearest to the Bowers Museum is the John Wayne Orange County Airport/SNA. It's less than 10 miles from the the museum, and 11 miles from the Fera Hotel. If you fly to Los Angeles International Airport/LAX, note that it is 50+ miles from the Hotel Fera and the Bowers Museum, but the traffic can be fairly gridlocked depending on time of day.
