Join The Explorers Club Conservation Committee and New York WILD Film Festival on Monday, April 8th, for an evening screening of Living With Lions (Kuishi Na Simba) – in collaboration with Pridelands Wildlife Film Festival.

Living with Lions (Kuishi Na Simba)
Tanzania, 2023, 58m
Directed by Erica Rugabandana, Tanzanian filmmaker, cinematographer, and conservationist

Home to 40% of the world’s remaining wild lions, Tanzania is considered a leader in lion conservation. However, their survival is threatened – 60% of them live outside of protected areas, where they are vulnerable to major conflict with humans.

Rugari and his family live on the border of the Serengeti. During the dry season hungry lions threaten their village, and Rugari is faced with a terrible decision. Livestock is his family’s only income, and he could protect them by poisoning the lions. But his daughter insists there’s another way.

This event includes a film screening with Pridelands Wildlife Film Festival Director Fiona Tande in attendance.
