Among countless notable achievements in exploration, five firsts achieved by our members define the legacy of The Explorers Club: first to the North Pole, South Pole, Summit of Everest, deepest point in the ocean, and the surface of the Moon.
To celebrate these historic achievements, The Explorers Club has created a limited edition series of printed posters, all featuring stunning original artwork.
This poster celebrates the first explorers to the South Pole. On December 14, 1911, Roald Amundsen and his team became the first to reach the South Pole. At approximately 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the team simultaneously shouted “Halt!” and raised the Norwegian Flag. To ensure they had actually crossed the Pole, team members set off twelve miles in opposite directions for good measure!
Available in both 18”x24” or 16”x12”, each poster is museum-quality and made on thick and durable matte paper. Add a wonderful accent to your room and office – or research station!
