“The Journey Continues to the Caribbean Islands”

This year’s evening will begin with a Caribbean theme originating in Trinidad and Tobago where steel drums were invented in 1939. It was the only acoustic musical instrument invented in the 20th century and has become a transformative sound throughout the world. During the cocktail period of the Three Island BBQ you will be transported by way of melodic vibes of the Caribbean, as master of steel drums, Raymond Charles, who hails from Trinidad and Tobago, plays two steel drums at once to start your journey for the evening. We will also have dancing and music provided by one of New York’s best party DJs, Victor Lesser from Manhattan City Music who is a very talented musician and DJ. Steel Band player Raymond Charles’ band is Caribbean Authentics. Casual island dress and summer attire is suggested.

A full bar will be included with Caribbean cocktails (Pina Coladas & Rum Punch). PASSED HORS D’OEUVRES include Caribbean specialties Conch Fritters, Remoulade Dip, Flying Fish Mini Tacos, Mini Sweet Potato Fritters. BUFFET DINNER Classic Jerk Chicken (mix of breasts & thighs on the grill) Caribbean Spiced Pork Tenderloin (on the grill) Black Bean and Mango Salsa & Fresh Pineapple Served on the Side Coconut Rice with Herbs & Lime Zest. Vegetarian offering includes Ginger Kelp Vegan Burgers & Impossible Burgers. Chopped Salad with Romaine, Hearts of Palm, Tomatoes, Chickpeas, Peppers, Scallions & Avocados and sides of Caribbean Breads & Flatbread. DESSERT Mini Rum Cakes, Mini Banana-Lime Tarts and Chocolate-Coconut Brownies.

Door Prize: The first prize is lunch with our President, legendary explorer and media celebrity Richard Weiss. Second prize includes a book on the fascinating history of steel drums originating on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago.

As this is one of our most popular members events, we encourage you to reserve your tickets now and invite guests. Guests may also make reservations by referring to a member friend’s name and using their own credit card (if you are a guest and paying for a reservation online there is a section online called notes where you can put the members name that is your friend).

The event will be held at Club Headquarters, 46 East 70th Street; on Thursday 9/04/25 check-in at 6:00 pm and cocktails at 6:15 pm, with dinner served approximately 7:00 PM (food service over at 8:45 PM) and the event ends at 10:00 PM.
