The Islender is Devold's most recognizable sweater. Its distinctive pattern has been knitted on the Norwegian coast since the 1850s, when coastal families made these sweaters by hand for fishermen and workers facing the North Atlantic. The Islender Refined is a slightly lighter version of the original, knitted from soft 100% pure new wool from Norwegian sheep.

It is a true heritage piece: warm, hard-wearing and built to last for decades.

Devold has made wool garments on the west coast of Norway since 1853. Its sweaters went with Fridtjof Nansen across Greenland in 1888 and on Roald Amundsen's polar expeditions, and the company still uses wool from Norwegian sheep for its knitwear today.
