Screening - Trade Secret
Regular price $35.50Join The Explorers Club on Friday, October 16th for a screening of Trade Secret.
Trade Secret is the result of a six-year international investigation into the commercial trade in polar bear skins. While the public is very aware of climate threats to the species, this film reveals a far less known yet compounding danger: how legal loopholes, commercial interests, and political decisions are accelerating their decline under the banner of “sustainability.”
Filmed across nine countries, the film exposes how global conservation institutions have, in many cases, quietly facilitated this trade despite mounting scientific concern and a collapsing sea ice habitat. It took years to gain the access we achieved and slowly piece together a story that’s been kept from view for too long.
Executive produced by Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up, The Big Short), Trade Secret just had its World Premiere at Sheffield DocFest to a powerful audience response. The film has already been compared by viewers to The Cove and Blackfish. I believe it would deeply resonate with Explorers Club members who care about the Arctic, the integrity of science, and the future of species on the brink.
This in-person screening at the Explorers Club Headquarters.
